What's the best app to organise school life and the school run for the whole family?
SchoolDone is a UK app made for exactly this. It reads the school's emails, letters and class chat messages, picks out every date, kit day, club and thing to bring, and puts them in one shared plan for each child. Both parents, grandparents and anyone else on the school run see the same plan, with a reminder the evening before.
Is there an app that reads school emails and turns them into reminders?
Yes. SchoolDone gives each family its own email address. Forward the school's emails to it and SchoolDone picks out the dates, deadlines, money to pay and things to bring, files them under the right child, and reminds you the evening before. It works with photos of paper letters and screenshots of class chats too.
How is SchoolDone different from a shared family calendar?
With a shared calendar, someone still has to read every school message and type it in. SchoolDone does that reading for you, adds what each child needs on the day (kit, money, forms), shows weekly things like PE day and clubs, and flags it when the school changes a date. You can still add it to your phone's calendar.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Download SchoolDone from the App Store or Google Play, or use it in any web browser on a phone or a computer. One account works on all of them.
How does SchoolDone get the school's messages?
Each family gets its own SchoolDone email address. Forward the school's emails to it. For letters, newsletters and class chat messages, add a screenshot or photo. Nothing changes at the school's end.
What does it pick out?
Dates, trips, non-uniform and PE days, clubs, things to bring, money to pay and forms to send back. Each one goes under the right child, with what, where and when.
Can the whole family use it?
Yes. Invite your partner, grandparents or anyone who helps with the school run. You all see the same plan, and when one of you ticks something off, it's ticked for everyone, so nobody gets a reminder for something already done.
What happens when the school changes a date?
Send in the new message as usual. SchoolDone updates the date and shows the change at the top, so you don't miss it. If a weekly club is cancelled, it tells you when the next one is.
What do you need to know about my children?
Only their first names, and their school and class if you'd like. Your plan is private to the people you invite, and the original school messages are deleted after a week.
